Cycling time :3.5 to 4 hours (Mostly)easy off-road.

Start point : 9-00 at Metano petrol station just by E45 (exit Sansepolcro turn left at roundabout towards Anghiari. After you go under the super strada you'll find the petrol station on your right). We then proceed together to S.Pietro in Villa.

Bring a towel for after fording, swimming costume if you want a splash(No changing rooms!) and insect repellent. You can either bring a picnic or go into Sansepolcro to eat at the end of the trail. Baby parking possible. (0575 742728)

General Description

This off-road trail first takes in stunning views of the mountain lake Montedoglio and then descends into a beautiful unspoilt area of "Tail waters" and large ponds (a bit like water meadows)which the Upper Tiber tumbles and sparkles through like a mountain stream. We ford the tiber on two ocaisions - taking off socks and shoes and pushing the bikes is the only way, so bring a small towel to dry yourself afterwards - and weave amongst the beautiful lakes and ponds on the west side of the river. Apart from the first 45 mins (where there are a couple of 5-8 minute ascents) the rest of this trail is very easy being either down-hill or flat.

Trail Break down

Male spose to "lake-way" car park 4 km (45 mins) off road. Shade and amazing views of lake and mountain but a couple of q.hard ascents. From car park follow tarmac all the way down to the lake hut. (30 mins) Take trail from lake hut to dam (1 hr.) Ford the Tiber and return on other side weaving amongst the tail water lakes and re-fording just by the lake hut (1 hr.) Picnic or take dirt track to San S. to eat.(30 mins)
