FAQs
How do I know which level of trail will suit me? See skill and stamina
On the cycling holidays page we've tried to give you an indication of what our different levels mean in practical terms. None of our trails require particularly high levels of skill or stamina but if you are an infrequent cyclist or not very fit, it might be best to stick to levels 1-3. If you have any doubts please contact us and we can discuss it.
What sort of guides and backup do you give?
For the fully guided tours you will be given an English-speaking guide who lives locally. He will be able to give you any historical, geographical and local information on the trails as well as fill you in on the local culture.
For the trails with vehicle support only, you will be given detailed instructions and maps (The self-guided trails are invariably very straight forward anyway) and a local network cell phone for contacting us in emergencies. We will drive you and your bike to the start of the trail and pick you up at the end and be on stand by throughout the day should you need help or repairs.
What will I need to bring with me?
No special equipment is required for our cycling tours. Just bring comfortable cycling attire (cycling trousers or shorts are recommended) with enough different layers to take off or put on according to the season. Remember that cycling from hilltop to valley will mean significant changes in air temperature. Padded/gel saddle covers or padded bicycle shorts can be useful for extra comfort and remember to bring appropriate sun blocks - even in the cooler seasons the Italian sun can be powerful. More complete advice on what to bring according to the particular season will be included in our information pack sent out with your holiday confirmation.
..And if I have special dietary requirements?
This shouldn't be a problem. Just let us know in advance and we'll make the arrangements.
