Start point : 9-00 at Metano petrol station just by E45 exit Citta di Castello Sud (Santa Lucia) We then proceed together via Sasso up to Candeggio.
Restaurant, bar, changing booths and rock pools for swimming together with a large children's play area are all available at trail's finish. Bring costume and towel.
General Description
Beautiful distant mountain views of Tuscany and Umbria as we cycle onto the Cucco ridge(657m), then a wild descent through oak woods and pine into the Tiber valley. After following the Tiber for 10 mins we branch off into the beautiful and unspoilt valley of the Soara.
Trail breakdown
Candeggio to "Piano man" turn: (1 hr, 8km) beautiful wooded off-road trail with distant mountain scenes and later on amazing views over the Tiber valley. The first half hour is quite strenuous (Two 7-8 min. ascents) with the second half hour bringing plenty of refreshing descents. From PM turn we take a relatively flat sandy track round montegrande (529m) for 20 mins before descending towards the Tiber valley on a deserted tarmac road for another 20 mins.(8km) We cycle parallel with the Tiber river for 10 minutes and then turn east along a quiet tarmac road for a further 20 mins to arrive at Sasso for a late lunch.(9km of flat tarmac)
